Smokey Bay Blues Band: Green Eyes – CD Review

I’ll be honest – I’ve never listened to much blues but I always heard that blues is all about what you feel and see. Musicianship doesn’t factor in that much – they never heard the Smokey Blues Band I guess.

Soulful, deep and raspy can be used to describe the vocal style of their music. It’s all very rich, solid and not at all polished which is what makes this so damn great.

Each song found here is perfectly performed with not a note out of place especially with the guitar, drums and sax – all on key and rhythm. There are no real criticisms to be had here. There is even a cover of the classic “Movin on Over” made famous by George Thorogood and it impresses with the bluesy sound. Dirty south done good.

If you’re a fan of blues then check out “Green Eyes” by the Smokey Bay Blues Band. You won’t be at all disappointed by what you hear. I don’t even like blues so there you go. 9 out of 10 for this very solid, solid, solid album and there is nothing much more I can say.
